“Well I started the install Friday and had it all buttoned back up for Saturday morning.  The install was fairly smooth other than getting the diff centre out.
Tested the system out at a local medium to hard trail here Mundaring Powerlines and they exceeded my expectations.
My friend who is a mechanic who assisted me with the installation is now considering them for his 2010 Wrangler JK petrol.
At the Jeep Club meeting tonight I will be telling everyone about them “

“Well the diff lock is fitted (by ACT diff doctor) and took it for a run in July.  As you would expect it changes the off-road performance of the Navara dramatically.  So much so that my brother suggested he would look into getting one for his Hilux.
Anyway very happy with the increase in off-road ability given it's a torsion bar/leaf spring setup, lifts wheels everywhere. However the diff lock in the front axle makes the world of difference.”

“I didn’t get to try it out until yesterday. I did some hill climbs that would have normally made my road tyres slip like buggery but, with the diff lock making sure the front was constantly gripping, the climbs were sure and controlled. I don’t feel any ill effects on the road but a tight turn in a car park going slow and I hear the front clicking albeit very quietly. When in 4x4, I experience more of a ‘return to centre’ type feel in the steering …....The addition of the diff lock has transformed its off road capabilities which could only previously be described as dismal. I am very happy with it. “

“Fitting was easy ….. Off-road is when I can tell its there, one local track has a large rock step that claims at least 2 4x4s a year in the past I have had to hit it hard and bounce up. The other week I drove up it at 1200rpm 1st low with ease it's amazing how much slower I can crawl now being twin locked.
I love it!”

“Thanks for the assistance and knowledge given, having a slip diff rear your recommendation to lock the front was excellent and the right choice made. LOKKA ordered and received 2 days later. I had this unit installed by Hart Transmissions in Strathpine and 100% to those guys. Just returned from Landcruiser Mountain Park and drove Camp Hill, Cruiser Canyon, Test Track going for all the difficult bits and the LOKKA performed excellent. Thoroughly recommend to anyone wanting to get the most from their fourby. “

“Another happy customer returns.
Approximately 3 years ago I inquired about fitting LOKKA to a 1987 4runner, I know I was a pain with too many questions however your service was faultless, as was the LOKKA I had fitted to my old girls front diff. My last years with this vehicle we as much a surprise to me as they were to the owners of bigger and newer 4WD’S when my TOY and I right behind them regardless of whether we were on Fraser Is. Sand, Windorah / Coopers Creek channels or the steep grades around the Carnarvon’s. “

“My name is Peter from Rocky, Central Qld . I had bought a LOKKA for the front end of my 1994 Dual Cab Diesel Hilux, mainly for trips to Fraser Is. It went in according to plan and after all the checks, it was working fine and doing what it was supposed to do.
Well we arrived on Fraser Is some weeks after installing the LOKKA and after a trip to Lake Mackenzie we decided to wash off the vehicles in Eli Creek , which is on our way back to our camp site. I let my friend Steve go in first and after he had completed the 100 meters or so fairly shallow drive (400 mm). I entered in the Hilux. My boys stayed in with me for the short trip while my wife Trina got out getting a bit of film, and it started great! About half way I did not notice the wash out in a bend of the creek.
I first noticed the water coming over the bonnet and the near side front corner of the bulbar disappeared under the crystal clear water; there was no sudden drop off, it gradually and quickly just got very deep. I then realised what was going on and just put the foot down slightly while turning right toward the high ground. The old Hilux just drove out of it- best wash it has ever had. My wife and other friends noticed from the bank that the rear off side wheel was turning; however it was about 100 mm out of the water and on our exit the rear canopy was just about submersed in the water.
I believe that if it wasn’t for the LOKKA in the front end, the Hilux may still be part of the attractions at Eli Creek (half buried is the sand). Other people said that they didn’t think I was going to drive out of it like that so easily…
Thanks very much 4WD systems for a great device which I am sure has increased my vehicles capability and saved me from an inconvenient and difficult recovery!! “

It is absolutely brilliant, bullet proof and a thing of beauty! Anyway...As I use my truck in its intended manner, my LOKKA stickers are now washed, scrapped and scratched off! “It does everything it said it would, locks up both front wheels in any condition and yet when doing the lock unlock test my girlfriend can unlock it with ease one handed. you can only notice that its there when your in 4x4, there is no difference to steering with the hubs in and the little lever in 2x4 not a bit. the difference that i can see between a LOKKA and an air locker (besides being over $500 cheaper)
is the air locker you flick a switch, LOKKA you move a lever. seams like a good deal to me.
Fitment is as quick and easy as said, i am very picky so i took a bit longer and i fitted new bearings but I can see it being done in halfa once the diff is out of the car.
I could not hear mine unlocking so if you cant don't worry its just working fine.”

“I have now done about 350,000kms of trouble free motoring on my LOKKA diff in the rear of my Toyota Landcruiser.
After breaking the spider gears for the second time in the diff, I decided on recommendation to fit a LOKKA diff lock to my vehicle, and what a great decision that was.
That was the last time I removed the diff centre for repairs and is performing as good as the day it was fitted.
Not only has the LOKKA 'bullet proofed' the diff, it has markedly improved the performance of the vehicle off road. I have found I don't need to engage 4WD as often as before fitting the LOKKA and have managed to get out quite a few situations I wouldn't have if I didn't have the LOKKA. “

I would just like to reiterate, the LOKKA has done 350,000km of sometimes quite hard driving and is still performing perfectly.
I have no hesitation in recommending the LOKKA diff lock to anyone wanting to enhance the performance of their vehicle.

Toyota LCR HDJ100 2006, LCR HDJ80 -  Part Time Kit and LOKKA Front
“Just want to thank you for the recent upgrade with the front LOKKA and part time kit for my 2006 GXL 100 series Auto Turbo Landcruiser.

As with the 80 series which I had for 12 years and 600,000 kms I am pleased with the performance, fuel economy and reliability from the LOKKA and part time kit.

With my work in the Petroleum Exploration, Heritage Surveys, and Pipeline Survey industries, often in very remote regions of SA, NT and QLD; I need to access all types of terrain mostly before any road construction. I travel a variety of conditions, many highway miles, outback tracks and off-road scouting (often where no tracks exist).
Vehicle reliability and capability are paramount, as I often travel single vehicle.

I realised the reduction in fuel consumption ( 15%) and expensive wear & tear in the front end with the 80 Series and can report the 100 series is giving me similar results.

I had the LOKKA fitted to make off-road scouting possible in the remote locations I work. I am amazed at the change in the vehicles capability with the front LOKKA installed. During off-road scouting I have been able to climb sand hills that other standard vehicles -100 Series, 70 Series troopie & ute – were unable to follow, even in my tracks.

I have no problems with engagement and steering. I only realise I have it engaged when I occasionally hear the LOKKA unlocking.I am extremely happy with the decision to install both parts, having achieved my original aims and much more.

I replaced my 80 Series at 600,000kms, having travelled 420,000kms with the LOKKA and Part Time Kits fitted for the last 8 years.

Now with a 2006 100 Series turbo diesel auto, I have fitted the Part Time Conversion and front LOKKA, with the same result. Off road performance is astounding, even though it has torsion bar front suspension. I was dubious about its ability prior to in-field use, but I need not have worried.

I would like to reiterate how happy I am with the LOKKA and Part Time Kits, both perform exactly as explained and extensive use has proved them to be extremely reliable.”

This was our 2nd bogging and it was kind of deliberate. Used high lift jack to assist. The LOKKA’s and the new suspension are great.
Also note the Nissan recovery truck. Now for those ST tyres !

The downside is I spend most of my time towing my mates out of trouble who cant get through! “

Adam H  (NSW)
Toyota LCR BJ73 1985 LOKKA Front
“From my experience the front locker was far better on hill climbs especially on rocks with a lot of articulation. as you know my leafs aren't as good as the coiled trucks that were there but the combination of the adj tough dogs set really soft, good tyres and the front LOKKA it did it easy and thats without a rear LSD. a friends  LWB 92 Patrol has only a rear fitted and on the steeper inclines it looked as though it was trying to pick the front wheels up as its being pushed up the hill rather than pulled which also brings up a safety issue. my cruiser simply pulled and clawed its way up anything and never tried to launch the front wheels which gave me a lot more confidence, also the diesel, dual batts and winch put just the right amount of weight over the front. there was a guy there with a pretty serious SWB petrol Patrol with at least a 4'' lift and all the gear and plenty of experience and he had a lot of positive feed back for me after getting to the top of a hill that honestly had my clutch leg shaking a bit and getting out of his truck to watch me climb up. his comments were how easy it made it look in comparison to more highly equipped trucks.
I couldn't be happier with my truck the way it is now and would definitely recommend the front LOKKA over the rear and even better if you have a rear LSD. if you need more than that then maybe you shouldn't be there,if ya wanna get home anyway. Cheers”

“I fitted one of your  LOKKAs in the front diff about a month ago, since then I have been testing it out in the wet rainforest tracks and extremely rocky hill climbs in the mountains above Cairns in north QLD. so far I have been really impressed with the advantage your locker has given me. it has pulled me up some rock walls that onlookers had deemed impossible,i even had one bloke search my car for air locker switches. It unlock when its  suppose to just like your add said. it took me about 3 hours and a carton of XXXX (beer) to fit by myself and was not difficult at all.  It has not been noisy either like I've heard rumours about like one of those detroit type lockers. I'm so impressed that I have been seriously thinking about putting one in the rear diff.”

“Took the Prado to Saunders Gorge over the weekend for a little LOKKA workout.  Rutted and Rocky with some reasonable hill climbs.  Lots of loose stuff and the rain had left some marks on the track as well. LOKKA performed faultlessly, made the whole task of getting up some steep shaley inclines effortless.  My mate Adrian came along as well with his 100 series LOKKA's front and rear and he was really impressed as well.   Much happier to ease up some of these rutted rocky slopes than use momentum to get through.
Honestly - I really don't even know its there and there has been no change in driving characteristics from stock even when first put in. Driving there is no discernable difference in noise or behaviour of
the car from a handling point of view.
Honestly Tom - I really don't even know its there and there has been no

“Hi Guys
As per my conversation with Dave last week, I just wanted to let you know how impressed I am with the new front LOKKA. I fitted it to my NJ Pajero approx. 3 mths ago & it has just blown me away with it's performance ever since. The main features & benefits for me are:

1.      Improved Traction (especially when lifting a wheel)
2.      Ease of installation
3.      Automatic function - not having to reach for switches when in the thick of it
4.      Cost Effectiveness
5.      Combined with Free-Wheeling hubs, it has no impact on the blacktop

This has to be without a doubt the single best modification I've made to the Paj to enhance off road performance. I've actually reached the point where I forget it's there & end up taking my son & friend (also in Pajeros) places they aren't equipped to handle. Just an amazingly simple & effective piece of equipment. I would recommend the LOKKA to anyone looking for that extra off road ability.”

…... as for the LOKKA! AMAZING!

Deliberately put the car across a ditch so the wheels were lifted diagonally (front right off the ground and rear left off the ground). It just pulled through like nothing was happening! Not an ounce of wheel slip. I've done that ditch before and the only way I could get through was to load up the Torsen rear diff with the handbrake and give it some power. It really is amazing. I'm heading off for Cape York in less than 2 weeks, so that'll be a good test for it (and me!). Cheers”

I hope you don't mind if I post the feedback pdf on the forum to counter the misleading info, which was probably from someone who spend a lot more money on ARB lockers!
However, there's a couple of reasons I will purchase a LOKKA as soon as I can afford one;
They're automatic & reasonably quiet in operation,
The ability to steer while they're working, as it doesn't seem to me much use to be able to climb up some rocks, only to find that your vehicle drives off the edge because the diff-lock you've fitted won't let you turn!  Cheers”

Nathan A  (NSW)
Toyota Surf KZN130 1993 LOKKA Front & Rear
“I recently bought 2 LOKKAs off you for my Toyota Hilux Surf and have 3 bits of feedback for you. Don't worry, it's not bad, quite the contrary actually. First of all, the service I got from you leading up to the purchase, contained sound advice regardless of how stupid my questions were.

Secondly, I put in the order very late in the day but you still managed to get the parts to me the next day, 1200km away. It took me 2 bloody days to get a crown wheel delivered within Sydney.

Thirdly and sorry for being long winded but, I went on a 4WD course today and it was great to get out and test the auto LOKKAs I had installed earlier in the week.

When I turned up at the course, the other guys (instructors included) all probably looked at in my 17 year old Toyota and probably though "this piece of shit is out of place". Everybody else was in new cars with electric everything and 101 different electronic driver assist gadgets installed. Here I was in my sub $10K standard Hilux (apart from the LOKKAs), surrounded by big some dollar machines, a new 150 series 5 door Prado, a new 150 series 3 door Prado (neither were base model), a 200 Series Sahara, a 120 series Prado Grande, a series 3 and a series 4 Land Rover Discovery.

Haha, with my secret weapon invisible and unexpected, the auto LOKKAs transformed the Surf into the star of the day and embarrassed every other car in one way or another. The Land Rovers were the only competition due to the fact that they have every conceivable electronic traction aid ever invented, but they still couldn't match the smooth ascent ability created by the LOKKAs.

I was astounded with the performance of the LOKKAs and cannot praise them highly enough based on their first rigorous test.

While on the course, nothing ended up being a challenge thanks to the LOKKAs. Hills where every other Toyota struggled, the surf walked up without spinning wheels or losing traction. I had to laugh though as it was embarrassing for the other buggers.

It got to the point where nothing was stopping the car so I started picking the hardest possible lines forcing myself onto 2 wheels (opposing wheels front and back off the ground) continually, but still crawled up the hills at little more than an idle. Due to the lack of a challenge and as a joke, I actually slipped it out of 4 low and started doing the tracks in 2WD Hi (only the rear LOKKA for traction) and it was still getting me up most hills with less spin than the others in 4WD.

I can easily see how a LOKKA will reduce CV breakages in the front of an IFS equipped car, as wheel spin is basically non-existent when lifting wheels and you no longer need to get a run up with a heavy right boot to get up a hill full of wombat holes.

The highlight came at the end of the day when the lead instructor had a tricky track that they preferred only to be attempted by cars that have ascent driver assist aids. I was given "permission" to do it as I had seemed to be able to keep up throughout the day. The instructors set a simple challenge for this last obstacle and it was to try and get to the top and if you did, try to get to the top as slow and as controlled as possible but without ever stopping. Hahaha, I won that competition easily and showed up every car. It was easy because traction control systems are jerky due to the fact that the car has to wheel spin or stop before the car reacts to it and regains traction to continue. The LOKKA prevented me from ever losing traction in the first place so was perfectly smooth without the jerky stop-start of the high-tech electronic aids.

We had spent the day watching each other attempt the challenges but by the end of the day, the other participants labelled me as boring to watch because I was crawling up hills so easily, not spinning wheels, was not revving the tits off my car spitting our rock and dirt damaging the track and my car to get up each hill.

Every hill got more difficult throughout the day and with each hill, my LOKKA purchased was confirmed as money well spent. I could have bought a new set of tyres for the money I spent on getting LOKKAs but I know that in a few years the tyres would be worn out and the LOKKAs will still be going strong.

Oh yeah and finally, I have no affiliation with 4WD Systems but now think they F**KEN ROCK!!!!! Cheers”

“Just wanted to let you know how impressed I am with the LOKKA fitted to our borg warner diff(28 spline). Originally fitted in a HJ Holden 1 tonner with 330 hp atw it was punished for around 20,000kms before being removed when the vehicle was sold and fitted to our VN Commodore which has coverered nearly another 75,000km.
The VN is powered by an RB30 fitted with a skyline twin cam RB25 head and makes 467 hp atw while being fed 24psi of boost.  Backing the RB is a Keas 3 speed auto with 3500 rpm convertor (5500 on transbrake) .  The car is daily driven (on 16psi -360hp atw) but does hard yards at sprint meets, burnout/powerskid comps, powercruise, drags etc.
It has run a best of 11.4 1/4 mile at 121mph (16psi) on street tyres with a lack of  traction. We have tried slicks but have managed to twist off 2 pairs of axles (2 axles at once -transbrake is violent) and also remove a large portion of crownwheel teeth on seperate runs.  In total this diff has seen 5 gear sets and 6 pairs of axles but we have not had an ounce of trouble with the lokka.
We have found the LOKKA to have great street manners being smooth and almost inaudible while being quick and predictable on the track.  Couldn't be happier with the product and would recommend it to anyone.”
